If you've gone further with multiple levels of thoughts and notes, you won't see them in Keynote. Unfortunately you won't see the outline at all in Keynote for iOS as there is no Outline View in that. This is another reason for using an alternative like OmniOutliner, however. You can Share the outline from OmniOutliner into Keynote to start your presentation yet keep the full one viewable in the outlining app. You again have to choose to share it in PowerPoint format, though.
I have always had to use both Microsoft and Apple platforms. I finally committed to going 100% Apple because of 2 major strengths; Ease of Use and Flexibility! In Keynote you will be able to create a beautiful professional looking presentation in minutes versus the days you would spend in any other program. This saves my businesses time and money! While at the same time making me money because the final product is visually powerful.

I instinctively keep trying to use my Apple Pencil to work with, only to scribble all over my work. Also, why is it that when I group objects together, I can’t link them? For example, I have font on top of a shape and want to link them both to another slide, so I grouped them. I have to link both the text and the shape in order for this to work? I’ve probably spent double the time on my project than necessary if the app just offered basic functions.

Regardless of how many times we’ve complained or of how badly the laptop world needs it, the fact remains that Tim Cook has more lucrative things to worry about. The last time a Mac received some limelight was WWDC of 2017, where the iMac Pro was announced. Before that, it was the introduction of the Touch Bar in 2016, where Apple spent a solid hour of its late-October keynote on MacBooks. It wasn’t an all-Mac affair, but it was close.
There are some basic ones like Next Slide or Previous Slide and more complex ones like Last Slide Viewed. Choose the last option which is headed Slide and is followed by a number. Choose the number of the slide where that section begins.
If you do that, then you can write as complex an outline as you want and export it from OmniOutliner in PowerPoint format. Then in Keynote, choose Open, Open and select the PowerPoint-style document. Keynote brings the outline in and you can edit or amend it in the Outline View. This is where you hit the limits of Keynote's outlining: it will certainly display the top and second level of an OmniOutliner outline but that's all.
With that said, I LOVE Keynote and am not switching to PowerPoint for this minor inconvenience, it has just been a known “issue” for over a decade now that I would like to bring some attention to, haha. CalebTalbot Clean, simple, intuitive. (ONE minor complaint, though) I don’t use Keynote often, simply because I don’t frequently have a use for it, but whenever I do use it I am amazed by its beauty and ease of use. (Although I’m going to describe my one complaint, there are many things I love about Keynote and I would recommend it to everyone.) My ONLY complaint (so far) is that it cannot automatically change the color of text once you've clicked on it (in the case of linking something to a word). For some context: I was making a Jeopardy game using Keynote, and it went so smoothly, but then I discovered that once you click on “Category A” for “$100” and come back to the table there is no way to make the “$100” a different color, so there is no way to know which ones you have already clicked on. This isn’t a huge deal, but I would like for Keynote to be able to do what PowerPoint can (simply because I’m an Apple fan).
If you’re interested in watching the keynote, mark down June 4 at 10 a.m. Pacific on your calendar.
I use keynote every week to do my Sunday School lesson for my class. It has a lot of things that I like but I always open the previous week’s lesson and update everything and then I want to Save As - as I have been able to do in every other app on Macs since the original Word and Excel apps from the 1980s. The writers of this app think that I should think of it differently and first open it, then remember to “duplicate” it and then Rename it. That is a far less intuitive way to work and does not make sense - at all. Maybe someone somewhere in Apple will read this and have an “Opps” monent and restore this functionality.
Changes made to a presentation on one device automatically appear on all your other devices. • Dictation: Speak words, numbers, or sentences and watch them appear in your presentation.
Downloading apps requires an Apple ID. • Pages for Mac, Numbers for Mac, and Keynote for Mac are available on the Mac App Store. MacOS High Sierra or later required.
What’s new in Keynote for Mac 7.1 • New Object List makes it easy to select, edit, and organize objects even on complex slides. • New option to display presenter notes on black background makes them easier to read while presenting in low-light settings. • Quickly open password-protected documents using Touch ID on the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. • Easily replace fonts throughout an entire presentation.
So don’t get your hopes up. A Mac-focused October event isn’t a sure bet. After all, Apple has plenty of others products waiting for updates that’ll be fighting for stagetime in a hypothetical late-October keynote. There’s the HomePod, the AirPods, the iPad Pro, and the Apple TV. That’s a lot of products to make wistful, Jony Ive-narrated videos for.

What's more, every line you write in this outline is automatically a new slide in the presentation. On the Mac, open Keynote, start a presentation by choosing File, New and then in the View menu select Outline View. It isn't a particularly powerful feature. If you have a complex presentation to make or you're at the stage where really you're still trying to figure out what you want to cover, use something.
